Metalcore

Metalcore combines extreme metal and hardcore punk. Guitarists used heavy riffs and solos, drummers use double bass, vocalists use screaming and sometimes shouting. Newer metalcore bands also sing. A distinguishing feature of metalcore is the "breakdown", where it slows to half time and guitarists play open chords. At a concert, the breakdown is when moshing gets INSANE.

Melodic metalcore

Combines sound from melodic death metal, hardcore punk, metalcore, and RARELY emo. Influenced by Swedish death metal.
Bands include: Trivium, All That Remains, Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine, Bury Tomorrow, Darkest Hour, Asking Alexandria, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, and The Devil Wears Prada.


Deathcore

Deathcore combines the sound of death metal and metalcore. Defined by heavy metal riffs and, of course, breakdowns.
